Matt Jesson, the owner and president of West Chester-based Green Lawn Fertilizing/Green Pest Solutions, was recognized for his efforts in growing the company over the past 15 years with the Small Business Administration Entrepreneurial Success of the Year Award.

Jesson was selected as the winner among nominees from 40 counties in the region. He was nominated by Seedcopa, a nonprofit that helps small to mid-sized businesses obtain government loans.

Jesson started his first business, Jesson Landscaping, when he was 12. He successfully grew the business through high school and college. While in his mid-20s, he decided to switch from landscaping to lawn care and established Green Lawn Fertilizing.

In 2010, with the help of Seedcopa and the SBA, he was able to secure a loan to purchase and upgrade the company’s headquarters in West Chester. At the time, Green Lawn Fertilizing had 38 employees and around $5 million in revenue. Since then, the number of employees grew to more than 170 and the company produced more than $15 million in revenue in 2018. Green Pest Solutions was also added.
