petcoachPetCoach, a three-year-old startup in Wayne, has the ambitious goal of becoming a key resource that pet owners can turn to when dealing with a pet-health issue, writes Diane Mastrull for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

“At the end of the day, I want to transform the pet-health industry,” said Brock Weatherup, CEO and co-founder of the company.

Currently, the startup operates PetCoach.co, a technology and healthcare platform that is already attracting close to 150,000 visitors. The site offers users personalized answers to questions, informational and educational articles, and access to experts, such as veterinarians, pet nutritionists, and trainers.

The main philosophy behind the company’s business model is to get more pet owners to ask more questions. This should, in turn, lead to pets that are healthier and happier, and hopefully they live longer.

PetCoach’s other founder, David Martin, a Wayne resident, sold the company to Weatherup in July, but stayed on as chief digital officer.

The company announced two months ago that it had successfully raised $2 million in seed funding. The investments were led by Comcast Ventures, along with Maveron and DreamIt Ventures.

“I was surprised and frankly humbled by their response,” said Weatherup.
