Are you ready to welcome a new challenge? Or perhaps you’re looking for creative strategies for professional reinvention?

Villanova University’s College of Professional Studies invites you to its 2019 Leadership Symposium, entitled “Transitions & Breakthroughs: Reinventing Yourself, Your Team, and Your Organization.” Held from May 31-June 2, this professional education course is designed to bring together executives, managers, team leaders, and change agents for an intensive, engaging, and interactive learning experience.

Attendees will learn from highly successful and inspiring practitioners and academic leaders and gain insight for professional development from their stories of transition and reinvention. Readings and structured activities afford attendees the opportunity to reflect on their current approach to leadership, as well as develop a strategy for how they will approach moments of change and uncertainty with creativity, courage, and positivity. Students will:

  • explore and analyze factors motivating individual and organizational reinvention
  • understand core concepts associated with the Clifton StrengthsFinder and apply these concepts to the themes of reinvention of self, team, and organization
  • identify and practice skills associated with reinventing one’s personal and professional activities and experiences
  • develop a personal and organizational reinvention strategy
  • describe and analyze best practices for reinventing your team and organization in the spirit of continuous improvement

Christine Kelleher Palus, Dean of the College of Professional Studies, said “The leadership symposium is really a hallmark event for CPS. We are thrilled to have fantastic speakers who are not only leaders in their industries, but also in their communities. The professional development aspect of this program is to come away with some tangible ways to reinvent yourself or your team, and to be inspired by those who will share their own stories. In addition, this serves as an excellent networking opportunity for professionals in a wide range of industries.”

Dr. Ralph A. Gigliotti, the Director of Leadership Development and Research at Rutgers University’s Center for Organizational Leadership, will facilitate the symposium. In his position at Rutgers, Gigliotti oversees a portfolio of faculty and staff leadership development initiatives and leads several research projects related to leadership and communication in higher education. His research and consulting interests explore the intersection of organizational communication, leadership, and crisis communication within the context of higher education.

The 2019 Leadership Symposium will be held at The Inn at Villanova University. Attendees will earn a Villanova University certificate of completion.
