The vocal prowess of a pair of West Chester University a cappella groups, Under A Rest and High Street Harmonix, proved unbeatable at the Mid-Atlantic Quarterfinals of the Varsity Vocals International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA).

Under A Rest won the night and High Street Harmonix finished second at the competition recently held in WCU’s Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall. Members of both groups swept all four special awards.

Kyle Loedel of High Street Harmonix was named Outstanding Soloist for “Say Amen,” and Andrew Bollenbach of High Street Harmonix was named Outstanding Vocal Percussion for the entire set.

Spencer Camacho of Under A Rest won Outstanding Arrangement for the entire set, and John Bilcik of Under A Rest won Outstanding Choreography for the entire set.

Bollenbach and Camacho are repeat winners, as each won the same special awards in 2018.

Next for the groups is the ICCA Mid-Atlantic Semifinals at the Grand Opera House in Wilmington, Del., on Saturday, March 30.

Under A Rest was founded in the fall of 2014 and is WCU’s first and only co-ed a cappella group. High Street Harmonix is a men’s bass and tenor ensemble that was founded in the spring of 2013.
