DNB First Participates in ‘Weather the Weather’ Food Drive for Benefit of Local Seniors, Students

By

DNB First recently teamed up with the West Chester Area Senior Center (WCASC) to pack hundreds of bags of food for the “Weather the Weather” Emergency Food Drive.

Many seniors rely on the center for warm meals; however, it can be difficult for them to make it there on days when there is inclement weather. The bags of food will be provided to seniors during these times to help them “weather the weather” until they are able to make it back to the senior center.

“During the cold winter months, we have a lot of seniors that turn to us for a warm meal, and the purpose of this food drive is to ensure that they still have access to that, even when they can’t make it into the center,” said Kathy Sullivan, Executive Director of WCASC. “We are very thankful for the DNB First employees that took the time to come out and support.”

Bill McGrath, DNB First’s Chief Credit and Risk Officer, serves on the West Chester Senior Center Board of Directors and helped to connect the DNB First team with this initiative. Employees from across the bank showed up to lend a hand.

James Malloy, DNB First’s new Chief Lending Officer, and Dave Connor, DNB First AVP, Senior Credit Analyst and WCASC board member, were also on-site to support the cause and efforts of the team.

In addition to the bags of food packed for seniors, a number of bags will also be donated to the Chester County Family Academy Charter School, where many of the students come from households facing financial challenges. The school is adjacent to the senior center, and the organizations frequently partner to expand their reach and impact with their “Grand Friends” program.

“As a community bank, we are always looking for ways to support our neighbors,” said McGrath.  “These two organizations provide great resources to the members of our community, so it was a natural fit for us to partner with them on this initiative.”
