Patricia Plumley, 85, an administrative assistant at Great Valley Publishing in Spring City, has no plans to retire anytime soon, writes Marian Dennis for The Phoenix Reporter & Item.
Plumley has been at her latest job for 17 years, since she “retired” in her 60s.
“She does customer service, she’s front reception, she handles phone calls,” said Mara Honicker, Great Valley Publishing’s CEO. “Anything we need in the department, she’s there.”
Throughout her long career, Plumley has worked several different jobs. A widow since 1992, Plumley got bored of having an empty home after retiring from General Electric. So, she decided to look for some part-time work and landed her job at Great Valley Publishing in 2002.
The position had everything Plumley was hoping for, including a pleasant work environment and being close to her home.
“It’s close to home, it’s interesting, it’s very diversified, and everyone treats me nicely,” said Plumley. “I feel very fortunate to still be working.”
