Tuesdays with Michael: Do You Have the Right People on the Bus?

Do you have the right people on the bus?

It can be hard to tell who will fit into what position in your company. It can often feel like a guessing game, trying to evaluate an employee’s performance to determine whether or not they should be in their assigned position.

You may find a salesperson whose character does not match his position. He may be timid and reactive, traits that you would not want in the person driving your sales, the lifeblood of your organization. You may have a marketer who is extremely social and does not like to sit still, qualities you would want in a salesperson, but not in a marketer who needs to sit and focus on marketing projects.

Not only is it frustrating because having the wrong people will impact the success of your organization, but hiring mistakes cost your company three times the annual salary of the employee.

If only there was a tool that would provide insight into each employee’s personality and mental aptitude before you made a hiring decision. You could know what to expect from an employee and be able to determine whether this person fits into your organization.

The Achiever is that tool. Save yourself time, money, and frustration by getting the right people in the right positions. Know ahead of time whether an employee is a team player that will fuel your organization or be a distraction that will cost your business opportunities. Know the mental aptitude and skills of the employee to determine if they will be able to perform the job they are applying for.

A company is only as good as its employees. It’s time for your company to jump to new levels of success by getting the right people on the bus.

Next week, I will discuss job matching as the key to superior performance.
