Notre Dame women’s basketball coach Muffet McGraw closed out the year with her 900th career victory, writes Anthony Anderson for ND Insider.

Already a member of the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame, McGraw, who grew up in West Chester and graduated from Bishop Shanahan, led the Fighting Irish to a 95-68 victory over Lehigh on Sunday.

Coincidentally, McGraw got her coaching start at the college level at Lehigh in 1982. It took some prompting from her husband for her to apply to Notre Dame.

“I was comfortable,” she said. “All my friends and family are still in Philly, so being at Lehigh was like going away.”

She was named head coach at Notre Dame in 1987 and has remained there ever since. She led the Irish to national championships in 2001 and 2018.
