Since 1981, when Surrey Services for Seniors was founded, its mission of helping older adults has not changed. However, the ways in which the Devon-based nonprofit helps older adults have evolved.

Today, Surrey offers eight different types of professionally staffed, fee-based Home Care Services.

What makes Surrey’s Home Care Services unique is the ability for clients to use whichever mix of services they might need.

Here are three of these services and how they have helped clients and their families:

RN Care Management

This service offers skilled care in your home on a scheduled, regular basis after a stay in a hospital, rehabilitation facility, or after an acute illness. Additionally, Surrey’s professional staff advocates on your behalf with medical professionals.

“Thank you very much for your support, caring, and attention to Mom as a person,” said Don K. “Overall, we have come a long way since bringing her home last January. The Surrey team deserves credit for that.”

Medical Procedure Transportation

A Surrey staff member transports a client door to door for outpatient procedures requiring anesthesia, such as colonoscopy, endoscopy, or cataract treatment. This service can include prescription pickup, light meal preparation, and post-procedure care.

“I felt immensely ill after the prep for my procedure,” said Lois H. “I was so relieved to have Nancy pick me up, bring me home, and make me a cup of tea and some toast. I don’t know what I would have done without her.”

Personal Care

This service helps an individual maintain personal dignity and safety. Surrey’s professional staff assess each client to determine his or her needs. These may include assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting), mobility assistance (transferring from bed, chair, vehicle, etc. and walking), meal preparation and feeding, and transportation to doctors and other appointments.
