Penn National Gaming is planning to build Hollywood Casino Morgantown in Caernarvon Township in Berks County, near the intersections of the Turnpike, I-176, and Morgantown Expressway, just beyond the Chester County line, writes Tom Rader for WFMZ.
The development of the casino, including license fees for slot machines and table games, will cost close to $111 million. The new facility will feature 750 slot machines and 30 table games spread over 80,000 square feet. The casino will offer a sports and race book, as well as a signature restaurant, entertainment lounge, and food court.
The site will generate around 250 new jobs and more than 275 construction jobs during the development phase.
Construction is expected to take 18 months, after the site receives all the required approvals.
“We are really excited, actually today, to be able to announce Hollywood Casino Morgantown,” said Jeff Morris, Vice President of Public Affairs for Penn National Gaming.
He said that the final criteria for the site selection of the casino came down to location.
“It allows us to bring traffic in from the Philly suburbs,” said Morris.
