Malvern’s People’s Light Wins Big at Theatre Philadelphia’s Barrymore Awards

Theatre Philadelphia announced this year’s Barrymore Awards, and Malvern’s People’s Light is one of the biggest winners, according to a report from Broadway World.

The awards recognized the best theater in the Philadelphia area from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018. Out of the 112 productions eligible from 40 companies, 10 companies won awards for 11 productions.

People’s Light won an amazing eight awards.

The theater was recognized with Outstanding Overall Production of a Play for Morning’s at Seven, with Outstanding Direction of a Play awarded to Abigail Adams for Morning’s at Seven.

The other awards won by People’s Light include the Outstanding Leading Performance in a Play going to Melanye Finister for Skeleton Crew and the Outstanding Leading Performance in a Musical was presented to Dulé Hill for Lights Out: Nat “King” Cole.

Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Musical went to Daniel J. Watts for Lights Out: Nat “King” Cole, with Outstanding Scenic Design going to Luke Cantarella for Morning’s at Seven.

Outstanding Choreography/Movement was won by Jared Grimes and Edgar Godineaux for Lights Out: Nat “King” Cole.

People’s Light also won Outstanding Ensemble of a Play for Morning’s at Seven.
