The Chester County China Initiative’s (CCCI) goal is to build strong business ties between Chester County and China in order to attract Chinese investment to Chester County.

By promoting Chester County as a premier location for Chinese investment, businesses, and trade, CCCI aims to create value-added job opportunities in Chester Country that will attract, develop, and retain talent.

Launched in 2013, the initiative is jointly organized by the County of Chester, under the leadership of Commissioner Terence Farrell, and the Chester County Economic Development Council (CCEDC) under its Chief Operating Officer, Mike Grigalonis.

Recently, Komeil Nasrollahi was brought onboard to serve as Program Manager and a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Shimin Law Offices to create a China Desk.

Since the start of 2018, other highlights of the initiative include signing an Memorandum of Understanding with the Yanqing District in Beijing; hosting a delegation from Yangzhou; attending the SelectUSA Investment Summit – the highest-profile event dedicated to promoting foreign direct investment (FDI) in the United States; hosting Chinese diplomats from the New York consulate; and a visit from China’s biggest news agency – Xinhua News to highlight Chester County as a welcoming place to Chinese businesses, investments and students.

China is seen as both a lucrative market and one filled with dangers for unwary U.S. companies so CCCI strives help Chester County companies find solutions to often complex business problems. CCCI’s services include market research and entering strategy; business development; procurement; outbound and inbound investment; merger and acquisition support; and legal assistance. CCCI is currently helping two local companies, a manufacturing company and software development firm, expand into Chinese markets.

Another project seeks to attract investment from China to build a dairy processing plant in our region to handle a surplus of milk production.
