Brinker Capital, the Berwyn-based investment management firm, has decided to back BizEquity, a fintech startup in Wayne that offers business valuation services online, writes Jeff Blumenthal for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Earlier this year, Brinker became a client of the rapidly-growing startup, and uses its cloud-based technology to deliver business valuations combined with industry analysis.
“We saw a pretty powerful use of the BizEquity platform in our wealth advisory business,” said Jason Moore, Brinker Capital’s Chief Administrative Officer. “Now, it has broadened out beyond investable assets to things like business valuation.”
According to Moore and Michael Carter, BizEquity’s Founder and CEO, the investment allows Brinker to participate in BizEquity’s product development.
Carter said that up to ten million baby boomers will sell their businesses over the next decade as they reach retirement. But many do not know the actual value of their companies.
The BizEquity tool provides owners with fair market, enterprise, and liquidation values calculated in real time based on the market. BizEquity then delivers a detailed report containing the valuation information and key industry performance indicators.
