A video showing a Philadelphia Eagles fan helping another spread his father’s ashes at Lincoln Financial Field has gone viral, writes Rob Tornoe for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

After the Eagles defeated the Atlanta Falcons, Stephen DePaul waited for most of the crowd to leave before pulling out his father Louis’s ashes. His father, who was a lifelong fan and a season-ticket holder since 1963, died in February, not long after the team won the Super Bowl for the first time.

His son thought that scattering the remains on the seat that brought his father so much joy would be a fitting tribute. But he caught the attention of Ryan Banks, who was seated one row in front.

“I have a son and a daughter, and his story just resonated with me,” said Banks.

So Banks took the ashes, and when the security guard looked away, emptied it onto the field.

“I didn’t want to disrespect you; I just wanted to respect his father,” Banks later told the security guard.
