The three Penn State graduates who opened Locust Lane Craft Brewery in Malvern last year plan to grow the business through simple operations and ingredients, according to a report in the Reading Eagle.

While other breweries often use unconventional ingredients and give their beers wacky names, Locust Lane’s motto – “simply crafted” – has worked well so far.

“The names of our beers are what they are,” said head brewer Tom Arnold. “They’re pretty simple. It’s about simple ingredients.”

Arnold and his fraternity brothers at Penn State, Jason Cartwright and Bryan Brockson, started the taproom 18 months ago. It has 10 taps that continuously rotate with three beers usually available.

Last year, Locust Lane brewed 300 barrels and Arnold expects to double that this year.
