Pair of Former Chester County High-Schoolers to Be Among Top 10 Picks in Thursday’s NBA Draft
Basketball riches await two former Chester County high-schoolers who are expected to be among the Top 10 picks in Thursday’s NBA Draft at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Harlem native Mohamed Bamba, a 7-foot-0 center with a 7-foot-10 wingspan and 9-foot-6 standing reach, played scholastically at the Westtown School, before competing one season at the University of Texas.
Bamba is “a truly elite physical specimen in terms of length,” according to his scouting profile on NBADraft.net. “This kind of size allowed him to immediately burst on to the NCAA scene as an elite rim protector with the measurables to translate this skill to the NBA.”
In his lone season at Texas, Bamba averaged 12.9 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 3.7 blocked shots per game.

Malvern native Mikal Bridges should also hear his name called early in the draft’s first round.
The Great Valley High School graduate was a two-time national champion at Villanova and possesses the length and athleticism to defend multiple positions on the next level.
Bridges, a 6-foot-7 small forward, “has evolved from being a defensive standout to one of the best outside shooters and wings on the college level,” according to his scouting profile on NBADraft.net. He is “quite possibly the best two-way player available in this year’s draft, and figures to be one of the most NBA-ready as well.”
This past winter, Bridges averaged 17.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game for the Wildcats.
The 2018 NBA Draft will be televised live by ESPN.
