The spotlight returns to Kennett Square this weekend with the 33rd Annual Mushroom Festival, according to a report from the Daily Local News.

Tens of thousands of visitors will enjoy food, art, music, and contests in the Mushroom Capital of the World. It will be preceded by the Community Parade with dining and dancing in the streets and a carnival-style event on Friday, Sept. 7.

The Amateur Mushroom Cook-Off will open the Festival on Sept. 8. This year’s theme is Mushrooms Blended with Grassfed Beef and Lamb, with a prize package worth more than $3,000. Saturday will also feature the Antique and Classic Car Show.

Among the guests will be Melissa d’Arabian, who won the fifth season of Food Network Star and who hosts Ten Dollar Dinners.

Visitors can also watch or enter the National Fried Mushroom Eating Championship.
