Unionville native Peter Fackler has been selected by the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education as interim president of Mansfield University, writes Jeff Murray for the Elmira (N.Y.) Star-Gazette.

Prior to his latest appointment, Fackler recently completed a term as interim president at Clarion University that lasted for nearly nine months.

Fackler – who has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Duke, as well as an MBA from Michigan – brings more than three decades of higher-education experience to his new role.

He’s held posts at Alfred University, Bates College, West Chester University, and the School of Visual Arts in New York.

Now, he will serve as interim president at Mansfield until the national search for a permanent president is successfully concluded.

“Mr. Fackler’s background and experience are a great fit for Mansfield,” said Bobbi Kilmer, chair of the university’s Council of Trustees. “We are excited to have him on board and are confident he will keep our university moving forward.”
