On Sunday, Dec.  4, the Immaculata Symphony will hold its annual Christmas concert in Alumnae Hall at 3 PM. The Immaculata Symphony is a university-community organization, with a long and outstanding tradition that goes back to the university’s founding in 1920.

The Immaculata University Chorale, under the direction of Adrian Smith, will join the Symphony to perform this entertaining program complete with audience sing-alongs and festive favorites that will get the audience in the holiday spirit.

The program will feature Sean O’Loughlin’s Christmas Canticles; Robert Parker’s Somerset Overture; David Clydesdale’s The First Noel; Andrew Wainwright’s Ukrainian Bell Carol; Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Dance of the Jesters from “The Snow Maiden;” Kevin Memley’s Gloria in Excelsis Deo; Josh Bauder’s The Light of Christmas Morn; and Leroy Anderson’s Christmas Festival.

Gehring is chair of the Music Department and director of Ensembles at Immaculata University. He was appointed music director of the Immaculata Symphony in 2011. He is also the conductor of the West Chester Band and Chesco Pops Orchestra and is a frequent guest conductor of various honor/festival bands and orchestras throughout Pennsylvania and Delaware.

Tickets for the concert are $10 (children under 12 are free) and available for sale on the day of the event and online at immaculatasymphony.org.
