The historic Jones Log Barn in Tredyffrin Township, having once served as British General William Howe’s Valley Forge headquarters during the Revolutionary War, has found a new home, writes Pete Bannan for the Daily Local News.

The structure, which once stood on Contention Lane and faced demolition, is now being rebuilt in Chesterbrook, next to the Duportail House on Adams Drive, to become a Living History Center.

The barn was saved from demolition through the efforts of the Tredyffrin Historic Preservation Trust, which secured funding to have the barn carefully taken apart and placed in storage.

The Trust secured a location for the barn at the Duportail House, a 1740s-era mansion that is now a historic property and wedding venue. The Jones Log Barn is being erected next to an existing 1790 Federal barn on the property.

The Jones barn was built around 1730 and is an English-style log barn, according to Patty Benson, president of the Tredyffrin Historic Preservation Trust.
