Bentley Systems, the software development company based in Exton, is working with Microsoft on an infrastructure project in Malaysia that involves the digitization of a railway line, writes Elizabeth Robinson for The Record magazine.

Greg Bentley, CEO of Bentley Systems, said it’s “one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects ever undertaken in Asia.” The goal of the project, which is expected to be complete by 2022, is to create better mobility for residents and ease traffic by an estimated 160,000 cars daily.

The project team at the Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (MRTC) will use Bentley’s OpenRail connected data environment, along with its ProjectWise and AssetWise solutions, powered by Microsoft Azure. These combined technologies will ensure real-time collaboration and the management of asset information.

“By turning to the Bentley/Microsoft cloud-based solution, we are able to streamline collaboration across all teams and identify and mitigate potential issues, before they impact cost, schedule, and safety,” said Poh Seng Tiok, director of planning and design for MRTC. “We expect to increase productivity by about 35 (percent) by reducing design rework and providing real-time, accurate information.”
