Julie Bogle, 14, and her sister Mallory, 11, have turned their jewelry-making hobby into a joint business venture, writes Anita Oh for CBS Philly.

The Exton siblings first became interested in jewelry making after watching their mother create pieces for friends and family members.

Last year, they decided to start Loopholes Boutique and use Etsy to sell their pieces, with most priced under $10. After Monkey Fish Toys, a local independent store, noticed their Instagram posts, it offered to sell the girls’ jewelry in the store.

The sisters jumped at the opportunity and decided to donate some of their earnings from in-store sales to the SPCA and the Rainforest Trust.

“We care about this, so we figured some of the money we can donate,” said Mallory.

The sisters do everything together, including making and packaging each piece, posting the listings online, and advertising their work on social media, all on top of juggling the demands of school.

The girls get inspiration for their jewelry from trips to foreign countries with their parents, Jeff and Jill.

“For me, my dream is to be walking around a city or somewhere and to see someone wearing my earrings,” said Mallory. “That would be really amazing.”
