Chester County brothers Kevin and Basil Kershner are opening a new brewery in neighboring Montgomery County, in the small town of Skippack, writes Kenneth Hilario for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Work is already under way at Brothers Kershner Brewing on West Skippack Pike, at the intersection of Routes 113 and 73.

Set to open this summer, the 1,400-square-foot brewery and taproom will have an open-concept, 15-barrel brewing system. At first, only five beers will be available, but the 12-tap system should fill up over the coming months.

The brewery will also offer a light menu, and customers can bring their own food from nearby restaurants.

Initially, the brothers considered Wayne and another town in Chester County for the brewery. But they decided in favor of Skippack, which did not have a brewery.

“Demographically, it worked perfectly. The vibe was perfect,” said Basil Kershner. “We’re almost a missing link for this particular area in general for breweries.”
