Tucked away, along the winding, two-lane roads of New London Township, sits The Farm at Oxford, a thriving flower business, writes Lisa Dukart for Main Line Today.

The 12-acre farmette, home to Mara and Greg Tyler, consists of a brick farmhouse built in 1838, a large red barn in the backyard, and fields where flowers bloom and chickens and guinea fowl roam freely.

A California native, Mara relocated to Pennsylvania to be closer to her husband’s family. The Tylers moved around a bit before settling in New London.

A gardener while growing up, Mara converted two acres to grow about 100 varieties of flowers, annually yielding an estimated 30,000 to 40,000 blooms, many of which aren’t frequently grown in this region.

Her flowers are chemical-free. To keep her plants – and the soil – healthy, she uses natural fertilizers, along with mushroom compost that comes mostly from Kennett Square.
