State’s Secretary of Agriculture to Honor Octorara’s Retiring Superintendent at OABEST Expo

Last year's OABEST Expo.

Russell Redding, the state’s Secretary of Agriculture, will thank Dr. Thomas Newcome, the retiring superintendent of the Octorara Area School District, for his dedication in supporting and promoting the agriculture industry on June 2 at the OABEST Expo.

Octorara High School will host the OABEST (Octorara Agriculture, Business, Environmental, Science, and Technology) Expo from 9:30 AM-1:30 PM.

Last year’s Expo was well attended and drew approximately 1,500 people, and officials are expecting a bigger audience this year with even more activities and exhibitors planned.

OABEST Expo is a community event. Local industry partners will have a variety of interesting and fun-filled demonstrations guaranteed to pique the interest of all members of the community.

The day will include food vendors, student demonstrations, science fair exhibits, a K-12 art show, first-responder demonstrations, crafts, music, games, animals, hayrides, and more.

This year, the OABEST Expo will add a Frisbee Tournament, more agriculture exhibits and demonstrations, and a tractor show, and it will continue with the Octorara Angels Rainbow Run.
