Malvern’s AmpTech and BioStrategy Partners are joining forces in an initiative that will get technical devices to market faster, writes Diane Mastrull for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The partnership is between the technology incubator and commercialization center and a consortium of seven state universities and research institutions, including Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Penn State. They aim to bring together investors with companies in need of new technological devices.

“It’s a big world,” said Simon Kassas, executive vice president of AmpTech. “They’re looking for each other.”

The role of the AmpTech Germinator Program is to act as a facilitator until investors and companies get engaged, according to Stephen Nappi, president of BioStrategy Partners.

The initiative was inspired by the Advanced Chocolate Technologies partnership between Temple University and AmpTech. This addressed a gap in the tech world between academic ideas and their adoption by the market.

So far, around six projects have applied for entry into the AmpTech Germinator Program. This gives AmpTech an exclusive option to develop any new technologies as a co-investor along with BioStrategy Partners.

“We’re very, very excited,” said Kassas. It “is a match made in heaven.”
