A local teenager and her younger sister have expanded the sale of their handmade earrings from their Loopholes Boutique on Etsy to MonkeyFish Toys, an independent toy retailer with locations in West Chester and Chester Springs, writes Jeff Bogle for WHYY.

The girls opened their online store about a year ago. Since then, the sales have been brisk and the customer feedback glowing. The popularity of their handmade earrings prompted them to expand into retail two months ago, and sales did not disappoint.

Since opening they have already sold 75 percent of their stock.

The earrings created by the pair are rooted in stories and the personal narrative of the sisters who travel the world and make jewelry based on what they see and experience.

The story of their jewelry is why the girls believed that MonkeyFish Toys was their best retail option. The retailer’s community involvement and personal touch ensure that the story behind the earrings is communicated to customers in a way not possible with larger retail chains.

To give back, the sisters donate $1 of each pair of earrings sold at MonkeyFish Toys to an animal-based charity.
