Patrick Murray, the founder and CEO of STP Investment Services, now an international company with offices in West Chester and India, has been named one of this year’s 40 Under 40 by the Philadelphia Business Journal.

This honor recognizes young professionals in the Greater Philadelphia region for their leadership and contributions in various industries and in the community. Selected from a record-setting number of nominations, this year’s recipients are accomplished leaders who have made their mark and are on the rise.

Murray, a 38-year-old native of Wallingford, founded STP Investment Services – which provides scalable, transparent, middle- and back-office solutions to investment managers, giving them the technology, expertise, and confidence needed to focus on core business objectives – in 2008. He has since grown the company to more than 140 employees, as STP has been named five times to the Philadelphia Business Journal’s list of the Best Places to Work. The company has also been honored with the CEO Report’s Corporate Culture Award and Velocity 50 Award, and with the Inc. Best Workplaces Award.

Using a progressive leadership style, Murray places tremendous emphasis on making sure that employees are valued and respected. Examples of employee engagement efforts include a committee system where all employees have a voice and frequent team-building, community service, and wellness initiatives.

With an office in Bangalore, India, STP works hard to promote a one-team concept. Use of technology to facilitate interpersonal communication, such as video conferencing and instant messaging, make that possible. Teams regularly travel from the U.S. to India and vice versa to further encourage relationship building and promote a family environment.

“By increasing the time spent in person and through video conferencing, people are able to develop relationships that foster mutual respect and camaraderie that ultimately translates into high-performing teams and the best service for our clients,” said Murray.

Murray, a West Chester resident, graduated from Villanova University with a bachelor’s degree in management information systems and finance, as well as from Boston University with a master’s degree in computer information systems and IT project management.
