Crowded Castle Brewing in Phoenixville ranks third among the nation’s 50 Fastest-Growing Breweries, according to the Brewers Association, writes Kenneth Hilario for Philadelphia Business Journal.

While the Brewers Association did not publish details on the growth of individual breweries, the organization did report median growth of 216 percent for the breweries between 2016 and 2017.

The median size of breweries that made the list increased from 284 barrels in 2016 to 963 barrels in 2017. Also, the Top 50 breweries represent 5.5 percent of craft beer’s growth by volume for 2017.

In addition to Crowded Castle, several other beermakers in the region have recorded tremendous growth over the last several years.

Sly Fox Brewing, which has brewpubs in Pottstown and Phoenixville, is planning to open a third location in Wyomissing. Meanwhile, Suburban Brewing opened this year in Honey Brook, and Victory Brewing is planning to renovate and expand its Downingtown location.
