Chester County Commissioners Examine ‘State of the County’

By

The Chester County Commissioners took part in a panel discussion on the “state of the county” at a recent business event held at the Downingtown Country Club, writes Ginger Dunbar in the Daily Local News.

Commissioner Terence Farrell pointed out that several community revitalization projects in Coatesville, including the Gateway Project and the train station, were progressing.

Farrell said the Third Avenue development is 90 percent complete and the city is working to obtain the right of way for Fourth Avenue to expand the area for the new train station.

“Coatesville is doing great things,” Farrell said. “The Coatesville Train Station is moving along.”

Also, Joe Sherwood, executive director of the Chester County Library System, was presented with the J. Larry Boling Excellence in Government Award by the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry.

Sherwood has served in his current position since August 2011. He has served in the public library field for nearly 30 years.

The award honors “an individual who is a professional in the local government public sector of Chester County who has established excellence in their jurisdiction in the administration of government, through economy, efficiency, and introduction of sound business practices, and projects or initiatives that demonstrate innovation.”
