Devon-Based Surrey Services Adds New Member to Board of Directors

Surrey Services for Seniors – a Devon-based nonprofit with a mission to help older adults live with independence and dignity and to continue as engaged members of the community – has announced that Jayne Bacon Garrison has joined its Board of Directors.

Garrison is best known for her long association with the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology, a Media-based college she and her husband, Walter Garrison, founded.

“Jayne Garrison has an incredible amount of experience volunteering with and serving on the boards of notable nonprofits in Pennsylvania,” said Bob Madonna, Surrey’s President and CEO. “Her enthusiasm and involvement will help us further our mission, particularly in Delaware County.”

Garrison has served on the board of the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia since 1995. In 2009, she was presented with its Atlas Award for her lifelong work in education.

She has served the Delaware County Historical Society as Chair, member, and supporter since 1996. In 2006, she was honored with an International Athena Award in recognition of her years supporting, developing, and inspiring women with educational opportunities.

Also, in 2005, Garrison and her husband were recognized with the Humanitarian Award by the American Red Cross.
