Chester County Home to One of 10 Heaviest-Traveled Roads in Greater Philadelphia

The Philadelphia Business Journal recently asked the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission if it could identify the most heavily traveled roads in the region.

The DVRPC, in turn, compiled a list of the 10 Heaviest-Traveled Roads in Greater Philadelphia, a region that includes nine counties: Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia in Pennsylvania, as well as Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Mercer in New Jersey.

The DVRPC’s travel monitoring team looked at traffic counts from the past five years. It also came up with an average of daily vehicles, or an estimate of all traffic during a 24-hour period.

The stretch of Route 202 in Tredyffrin Township, from the Valley Road underpass to the Swedesford Road ramps, checked in at No. 10 on the list with an average of 118,000 vehicles every day. It was the only road in Chester County to make the cut.
