By most measures, Chester County is the fastest-growing county in the state. However, it wasn’t always that way.

Enter the Chester County Economic Development Council, which has had a strong hand in the growth of this county, one of the most desirable places to live in all of America.

Gary Smith, the CCEDC’s CEO, recently appeared on Executive Leaders Radio to discuss the private nonprofit’s role in growing business in the community.

Executive Leaders Radio is dedicated to honoring individuals who have risen to leadership roles through hard work and dedication. This highly popular radio program shares the stories and wisdom of leaders with a diverse listener audience with the goal of helping others achieve success.

Smith, whose interview begins at approximately the 28:30 mark, discussed his background of being raised on a dairy farm – where he developed his strong work ethic – and what he’s learned in his 42 years of employment in economic development.

“One of the things I like to do is enable others to see their vision (come to fruition),” said Smith. “My job is to provide opportunities for others, (which will) create more economic opportunities (for more people).”
