Jad Prachniak’s achievements as the baseball coach at West Chester University show that, when it comes to recruiting, he knows what he’s doing, writes Ross Hawley for USA Today.

In the six seasons Prachniak has been in charge, the Golden Rams have won a pair of NCAA Division II crowns, and his record is an incredible 204-92-1. He’s also twice been named the Division II Coach of the Year.

Prachniak espouses a philosophy of working back from the program’s ultimate goal, to win the national championship.

“To achieve that goal, our No. 1 priority with recruiting is to find the players that can help us do that,” he said.

Once he finds those recruits, Prachniak then has to assess whether they can be successful academically at WCU.

“Once the baseball and academic components line up, then it’s just a matter of finding the guys that want to be a part of our program,” he said.
