Penn State Great Valley to Host Inaugural Lion Cage Pitching Event on Nov. 18

By

Early-stage entrepreneurs and Penn State students can pitch their products or businesses as they compete for prizes at Penn State Great Valley’s inaugural Lion Cage.

Sponsored by the REV-UP Center for Entrepreneurship, the event will be held from 10 AM-4 PM on Saturday, Nov. 18, in the Conference Center Building.

The day will kick off with a welcome from Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer James Nemes and will include a keynote address, a guest speaker on the essential components of launching a business, and a pitch competition.

Competitors will be pre-selected through an application process. Each participant will have five minutes to share a business idea, product, or service to a panel of judges, who will then have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.

The REV-UP Center for Entrepreneurship was founded in May 2016 through a grant from the Invent Penn State initiative to expand entrepreneurial endeavors throughout the Commonwealth. Operating in partnership with its key corporate affiliate, the Chester County Economic Development Council, the center aims to encourage community members, students, and faculty to generate innovative, commercially viable solutions.

The Lion Cage is free and open to the public, but advanced registration is required. Individuals interested in only attending the event should RSVP through Eventbrite, while those who want to pitch their ideas should submit an online application by Wednesday, Nov. 8.
