Coatesville Savings Bank has partnered with city police by setting aside $1,000 for an initiative that rewards children for good behavior.

Coatesville Savings Bank has partnered with the city’s police department to reward children for doing positive things with $10 citations that can be put into a savings account, writes Anita Oh for CBS Philly.

The bank has set aside $1,000 for the initiative that also encourages positive interactions with the police.

“It’s going to start their financial career for college or to save for the future,” said branch manager Latifah Lamb. “Hopefully this will help the children out a lot, and also get (them) to understand the Coatesville police aren’t bad at all.”

As part of the program, police officers on patrol approach kids that are doing something good and give them a citation for being good citizens.

“I caught you doing something right, and I’m going to give you a ticket,” said Sergeant Rodger Ollis to four-year-old Jacob Morales, who was playing with classmates at a local park.

Ivana Villicana, 4, also got a $10 ticket for picking up litter while walking with her mother, while Charlie Coleman, 4, got his $10 citation for listening to his teacher’s instructions on the playground.
