Bishop Shanahan High School senior Josh Hoey, a track-and-field star in the 800 meters, has committed to the University of Oregon, writes Dan Beck for MileSplit Pennsylvania.

Hoey, who transferred to Shanahan from Downingtown West after his sophomore year, will head to Eugene, Ore., with his older brother, Penn State transfer Jaxson Hoey. The elder Hoey captured the PIAA crown in the 1,600 meters in 2015.

Last year, Josh won PIAA 800-meter titles both indoors and out.

While the brothers were students at Downingtown West, they were an integral part of the Whippets’ state-championship cross-country team that also qualified for the Nike Cross Nationals.
