Five students have been chosen to receive college scholarships from Benchmark Federal Credit Union, which awards $15,000 annually to local students.

Three of the students are seniors graduating from high school:

  • Emily O’Brien (Perkiomen Valley)
  • Tyler Keough (Devon Prep)
  • Samantha Ferguson (Coatesville)

Two of the students are currently in college:

  • Jacob Csuy (Drexel)
  • Spencer Fox (Penn)

Each of the graduating high school seniors will receive a $4,000 scholarship, and each of the college students will receive a one-time $1,500 scholarship.

“Benchmark is committed to supporting financial awareness and success strategies throughout our Chester County community,” said David LaSala, Benchmark President and CEO. “This scholarship program is just one way we hope to ease the financial burden on deserving students and their families.”

Valley Creek Corporate Center

Valley Creek Corporate Center, a three-building office complex in Exton, has sold for $45.3 million, writes Natalie Kostelni of the Philadelphia Business Journal. The property has a total of 259,163 square feet of space that was 95 percent occupied at the time of sale.

Chester County Library

State Rep. Ryan Costello, the Chester County Commissioners, representatives from the Chester County Library Trust, and library supporters attended a ceremony as the Chester County Library unveiled a new StoryWalk at Exton Park during National Trails Day in early June.

The StoryWalk is installed along a half-mile, paved walkway surrounding two playgrounds and a picnic area. The project consists of 20 reading stations, each featuring a page in a children’s storybook, which promotes health and literacy in young children by encouraging exercise and reading.

Neuronetics

Neuronetics, a medical device company in Malvern that markets a system for delivering transcranial magnetic stimulation therapy to patients suffering from depression, raised $15 million in a private stock sale, writes John George of the Philadelphia Business Journal. The funds will allow the company to expand its U.S. and international operations and test its therapy in other disorders.

Baker Industries

Baker Industries, a nonprofit workforce development program in Malvern, has a new president: Rich Bevan. Bevan, a local healthcare executive with 35 years of human resources and general management experience with GlaxoSmithKline and Quest Diagnostics, will take over for current president, Turk Thacher. Thacher will assume the role of Vice Chairman of the Board.

Bevan will continue to advance Baker’s 37-year mission of hiring and supporting vulnerable adults who face significant barriers to employment, including adults with mental and physical disabilities, adults on parole/probation, and those with substance use disorder.
