With a sea of four-leaf clovers everywhere and gallons of Guinness flowing for St Patrick’s Day, Molly Maguire’s felt like the perfect place to celebrate all things Irish. Since opening in 2007, more and more people see Molly Maguire’s Irish Restaurant and Pub as the place to go in Phoenixville on March 17th, writes Eric Devlin of the Daily Local News.

With the countdown clock to St. Patrick’s Day displaying all red zeros behind Molly’s bar at the corner of Phoenixville’s Bridge and Main streets, you could hear the cacophonous rumble of the Irish Thunder Pipes and Drums band spilling into the street.

“It’s an Irish pub and it’s got good hospitality,” said Declan Mannion, co-owner of the business. “The best Guinness, the best food and a great atmosphere.”

The guests echoed the sentiment. “I love it, I love the music, I love the festivities and I love the beer. And I love the company,” said Tom Maguire, of Collegeville.

Given the enormous enthusiasm many have for St. Patrick’s Day in the U.S., it may as well be a national holiday and Mannion, who came to this country from the city of Galway in Ireland, said that this same enthusiasm can be felt around the globe.

“It’s a celebration of Irish culture and it’s just a fun day. Between dancers and bagpipers and music and kids, families and we have it on three floors, with three outdoor patios, we’ve got plenty of room for everyone,” he said.

The celebration started with an Irish breakfast at 8 a.m., with plenty of entertainment for guests along the way. From 11 a.m. a steady stream of Irish performers kept the crowd at the Molly’s singing, dancing, and enjoying themselves. Among those who hit the stage were the members of the McDade Cara School of Irish Dance in Newtown Square and the Irish Thunder.

Pete Hand, of Swedesburg, a drum major for the Irish Thunder, said the group likes to perform because it’s part of the Irish heritage and people enjoy hearing the music “It’s just a good time all the way around,” he added.
