Thomas Steines, the Assistant Park and Recreation Director of West Goshen Township, was recognized by the Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society as an “Outstanding New Professional” at the organization’s annual awards banquet, according to the Daily Local News.

The award honors outstanding individuals with less than 11 years of full-time experience in the profession. Steines has been with the West Goshen Township Park and Recreation Department for 10 years.

Steines, who is a township native, studied Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management at Penn State. He worked in resort management in Colorado prior to returning to West Goshen.

His leadership ensured a partnership between West Goshen Township and the West Chester Area School District. This resulted in two abandoned team rooms located next to a sports field close to Robert Lambert Park being converted into a clubhouse for the Teen Program.

“Tom Steines has been a welcome addition to our Parks and Recreation Program,” said West Goshen Park and Recreation Board Chairman Michael Pillagalli. “His cheerful readiness to help the summer program and work with the participants from all age brackets is stellar.”
