Downingtown native Ryan DeNardo has returned to the area to perform with his theater company in Philadelphia.

Musical theater star Ryan DeNardo, a Downingtown native, is returning to his old neighborhood to perform in the Roundabout Theater Company’s Tony Award-winning production of Cabaret, which debuts in Philadelphia today, writes Debra Danese for Phindie.

DeNardo is performing alongside his wife, Laura Sheehy. The couple met while they were doing a regional production of the show in Florida.

“We have great moments together in the show, plus we’re seeing many interesting cities and venues throughout the country,” said DeNardo. “If we weren’t together, none of this would be nearly as fun.”

Being close to home will also give DeNardo the chance to visit his parents and family dog.

DeNardo said that he was very involved in the arts during his years at Downingtown West High School. He even briefly took on the prestigious role as D-Dog, the school mascot.

“It was at DWHS that I found myself in the arts,” he said. “I’m forever grateful to both the teachers who saw my potential and encouraged me to pursue the dream and the friends I made through those activities.”
