The Chester County Hospital campus is about to endure the trauma of labor in order to deliver a new 276,000-square-foot building expansion, and the due date is sometime this spring.

Chester County Hospital’s $90 million baby is expected to fulfill a 2013 acquisition pledge by Penn Medicine to invest $130 million in its first five years as owner, according to a Philadelphia Inquirer report by Harold Brubaker.

Over the course of a few years, the project will grow Chester County Hospital’s current capacity of 289 beds to as many as 385, alongside 14 new operating rooms, 10 emergency rooms, and four catheterization labs.
