Big Improvements Coming to Coventry Mall

Less than a year after it was acquired by Pennmark Management Co. last April, Coventry Mall has quickly become a sought-after shopping destination in northern Chester County, and many more headlines are on their way.

Gabe’s just opened up as another Coventry Mall anchor last weekend, luring shoppers with promises of deep-discount apparel, home décor, electronics, and toys. Gabe’s claims to offer price tags as much as 70 percent off what you’d expect from a department store, according to a Daily Local News report by Donna Rovins. It covers 45,000 square feet of the former Sears footprint.

“This is huge. It is the fruition of what we have talked about, and it’s the first cog in all the larger changes that are coming,” said mall manager Steve Batten. “I’m not aware of another mall that has done what we have been able to pull off in a year.”

Plus, a new entrance and courtyard for outdoor brewpub seating is coming in the next month, and “we’re also trying to create a beauty hub — so we’re looking for a hair salon, perhaps with a spa next to it. We’re searching for that now. We love working with local companies,” said CFO Bob Sichelstiel.

Later this spring, Coventry Mall expects Lomax Carpet and Tile to join the others, and a medical facility is also about to sign on, the article stated.
