HireOne Seminar Addresses Issues Managing Multi-Generational Employees

By

The Generational Puzzle: How the Pieces Fit Together so you can Manage Most Effectively seminar on Wednesday, February 22, participants will gain an understanding of each generation and develop effective strategies to help foster more effective work relationships and improve business results.

For the first time in history, there are four generations in the workplace.  As more boomers work past retirement age, and tech-savvy millennials continue to graduate and enter the workforce, the stark differences in the values, communication styles and work habits of each generation are becoming increasingly pronounced.

This dynamic can generate tensions and issues among colleagues and cause difficulty for managers.  To address concerns and challenges managers may have, HireOne, an initiative of the Chester County Economic Development Council (CCEDC), is providing a workshop designed to provide those who hire or manage employees, the tools to overcome potential issues.

Based on feedback from employers gathered in a recent cross-industry strategy session, HireOne is hosting, The Generational Puzzle:  How the Pieces Fit Together so you can Manage Most Effectively.

This event takes place on Wednesday, February 22 from 8:30am to 10:30 am at CCEDC.  Participants will gain an understanding of each generation and develop effective strategies to help foster more effective work relationships and improve business results.

Workshop attendees will learn specific communication techniques and how to not only value differences but how to effective create work teams that will be more productive.  The goal is to eliminate “generational bashing” and create a work environment where everyone is respected for their strengths rather than their perceived weaknesses.  The lessons learned can be applied the next day!

Attendees at a previous event on managing generational differences gave feedback that ranged from “Great topic – learned a lot – thank you!” to “Not only was the presentation informative but it was great and enjoyable,” and from “I learned how to better manage people and how to present to my senior leaders more effectively” to “We had fun while learning how to communicate with different personality styles, generations and a better understanding of ourselves.”

Cost for the workshop is $50/pp but there is a discounted fee of $35 for those who work for companies that are CCEDC investors, serve on the Council’s IP or i2n Boards or are members of the HireOne Task Force.
