Wayne’s Boathouse Capital Invests in Software for Old-School Salespeople

boathouse-capitalA software firm focused on helping salespeople close deals face-to-face has gotten Boathouse Capital’s firm handshake of commitment.

The private-equity firm in Wayne is investing $10 million into Mediafly, and Boathouse Capital’s involvement takes the 2006 podcast distribution startup beyond angel investors to Series B for the first time, according to a Chicago Tribune report by Amina Elahi.

Chicago-based Mediafly plans to utilize the Boathouse Capital funding to hire 20 to 30 people in sales and marketing — more than a 50 percent jump in its workforce — to capitalize within its unique niche.

“We really believe in the humans on the ground and there’s a lot of sales, particularly in the B2B world, that really need a human to get over the last mile,” Founder and CEO Carson Conant said.

Mediafly, which has annually appeared on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies since 2014, is already projecting a doubling of current revenue in 2017.
