TE Connectivity LogoTE Connectivity manufactures parts for all kinds of hazardous environments through its 120 plants and 75,000 employees that span four continents, writes Joseph DiStefano for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The manufacturer’s Berwyn home builds models, among other things, that show the uses of TE’s range of over 500,000 types of connectors, sensors, and switches. The building is adorned with illustrations of large and small devices, all studded with TE Connectivity parts, which are designed to simultaneously be cheap, reliable, and last the entire lifespan of a machine.

The company has been led by CEO Thomas Lynch since it was spun off by Tyco International 10 years ago. Now the company has annual sales of $12 billion and profits of $2.4 billion last year.

As Lynch will be retiring in the spring, his successor will be Terrence Curtin, TE’s Chief Financial Officer who has significant operating-group and corporate-customer experience.

Lynch had only words of praise for Curtin, who distinguished himself during the 2008-09 financial crisis.

“In a very difficult time, he kept a calm, steady hand on the wheel,” said Lynch.
