atixaThe Berwyn-based Association for Title IX Administrators has come out in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, stating that it stands in support of the essential truth that black lives matter.

ATIXA expressed its solidarity with colleague associations and individuals who are dedicated to this movement, emphasizing the immediate need for national conversations on the issues of racism, bias, and hate.

The organization offered sympathy to families direly affected by racism and those who have lost loved ones to violence motivated by race. It further condemned those who shoot unarmed, defenseless, and innocent people, while expressing its hope for a better tomorrow, which it feels could be achieved through new coalitions, broadened tolerance, and promoted justice.

Members of the association work every day on helping address systemic issues of violence, discrimination, harassment, and hatred, proving that everyone can be a part of the solution.

Title IX states that no person can be discriminated on based on their sex “under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.”

Every school district and college in the United States is required to have a Title IX Coordinator who oversees implementation, training, and compliance with Title IX. ATIXA brings campus and district Title IX coordinators and administrators into professional collaboration to explore best practices, share resources, and advance the worthy goal of gender equity in education.
