The Chester County Food Bank’s new channel for distributing fresh produce to families throughout the county is getting a larger audience this year thanks to a key partnership with QVC.
QVC outfitted the Fresh2You Mobile Market with essential kitchen equipment for its debut run in Coatesville and Honey Brook a year ago, and the West Chester home shopping network has pitched in to expand to Parkesburg, Oxford, Kennett Square and West Chester this summer and fall.
US Congressman Ryan Costello with Anne Schuniak of the Chester County Food Bank and Carolyn Gracie of QVC.“As a good corporate neighbor, QVC is committed to supporting efforts that bring help and hope to those in need in the communities where we live and work,” Director of Community Affairs Suzanne Quigley said.
“For several years, QVC has supported the Chester County Food Bank through various initiatives, including corporate giving, food donations, employee volunteerism and our QGarden initiative. By fostering an even stronger connection with the Food Bank through our support of the Fresh2You program, we hope to further their efforts in addressing food insecurity in the Chester County region.”
The bright yellow Fresh2You Mobile Market truck will tour Mondays to Thursday now through November, offering local seasonal produce, pastured eggs and healthy dried goods, along with nutrition education to empower recipients in making healthful dietary choices.
“We have been partnering with local farmers to provide produce to the local cupboards and organizations that we serve since our inception in 2009,” Chester County Food Bank Agency Manager Phoebe Kitson-Davis said. “Fresh2You enables us to increase the availability of affordable fresh produce in underserved areas of the county.”
Fresh2You produce is open to the public and accepts payment by cash, credit cards, debit cards, SNAP/EBT, WIC and Senior Farmers’ Market vouchers — with SNAP/EBT customers eligible to earn matching “Veggie Bucks” for future purchases.
