The DNC begins on Monday at the Wells Fargo Center--about four miles from Center City in Philadelphia. Meanwhile, Chester County businesses are enjoying the influx of visitors to the region--photo via the New York Times.

The Democratic National Convention is bringing a huge economic boost to the region as the thousands of visitors are bringing in tens of millions of dollars to hotels in Chester, Montgomery, and Delaware counties in overnight stays alone, writes Brian McCullough for Daily Local News.

An estimated 6,000 delegates and alternates are coming to Philadelphia for the DNC from July 25th to 28th, while thousands more are expected to flock to the area to take part in the festivities.

For the past several months, convention and tourism groups from Chester, Montgomery, and Delaware counties have been working with convention organizers to ensure hotel rooms are booked and visiting delegates are aware of the plethora of things to do while here.

Over 16,000 room nights have been booked for the duration of the convention at 27 area hotels in Chester and Montgomery counties. Hotels in Malvern will be among those to welcome convention delegates from over 20 states and territories with their spouses and families.

Nina Kelly, Director of Marketing and Communications at the Chester County Conference and Visitors Bureau, said that the county, like others in the region, is offering its service to convention visitors on the official VisitPhilly.com website, as well as through brochures available around Philadelphia.

“There is a little direct impact for Chester County hotels but more importantly is the traffic we get from that website,” said Kelly. “The biggest thing is the eyes of the world are on our region, and we want it to shine. We want them to come back.”
