Earlier this week, Chester County found its spot among the technological elite when it was presented with a Digital Counties Survey award that recognizes the most innovative digital counties nationwide.

Chester County ranked 10th out of the over 3,000 counties in the survey that identifies the best technology practices in counties across the U.S. It is presented by the Center for Digital Government and the National Association of Counties.

This year proved to be a big year for digital accomplishments in Chester County. Among the achievements cited by the judging panel were OpenGov which publishes public spending online, the county’s migration to cloud-based systems and commitment to data security.

The group also lauded Chester County’s strong social media presence.

Other factors that gave Chester County a boost included its newly re-designed response-driven website and mobile applications, practices for disaster recovery, as well as continuity of operations, e-government programs, and shared services.

Terence Farrell, Chester County Commissioners’ Chair, accepted the award during the NACO annual conference.

“Over the past few years, Chester County has made a concerted effort to develop digital services that boost efficiencies and improve services for our citizens,” said Farrell.

“This award acknowledges that effort, undertaken by the team in our Department of Computing and Information Services, our Digital Communications personnel, and representatives from many other departments.”
